Custom Built Desktop PCs and Servers

Many consumers purchase their computers from proprietary companies such as Dell, HP, Compaq, Apple, Sony, Toshiba and others. They purchase these computers hoping to get the most for their money.

These proprietary (manufacture pre-built) computers have a hidden story. Here is why:

  • Proprietary computers are out dated quickly because of the parts manufacturers install in the case. Motherboards are sometimes restricted and make it difficult to upgrade the computer.
  • Often Proprietary companies would boast about how great the processor and ram that's installed in advertisments but no word on its motherboard and/or its quality. The motherboard is essentially the nervous system of the computer. It connects everything together. If the motherboard is not of high quality then the parts installed on the motherboard will not run to the fullest.
  • Installed ram cards and hard drives vary from manufacturers and some not even considered name brand components.
  • Power supply units are sometimes supplied for these proprietary companies from low-quality manufactures who agree to the cheapest contract for the proprietary company.
  • You have no ultimate say in what you want in your computer but choosing from pre-determined configurations.
  • If a proprietary part in the computer is not working properly, sometimes you are forced to contact the company's difficult and expensive IT support.
  • Proprietary computers usually last for approximately four to five years until the owner realizes its time to purchase another computer due to either malfunctioning of the unit or simply out dated hardware.
  • If you want to buy a top of the line computer from these companies, you would end up over spending. When realistically, you could pay about half the price on a custom built one.*

Why a custom built computer is the best option:

  • You have complete say in what you want in your computer. Want a big case? Liquid cooling? Fast CPU? Solid state drive? Very cool looking cold cathodes or LEDs? This or that? You got it!
  • Parts installed in the computer have their own separate warranty and are top quality components. They are from name brand companies in the computer business, not some contracted “no name brand” electronic manufacturer.
  • They are truly the “best” in quality when it comes to components. (power, efficiency, endurance, customization)
  • Custom built computers can be more powerful, faster, and reliable than a computer from a proprietary company at the same price.*
  • They are easily upgradeable making sure your investment is long term.
  • *Custom built computers are cheaper than proprietary computers usually at the same listed specifications. Although in some cases, a few components may be more expensive than others that may result in a custom built computer being more expensive than a proprietary one at similar specifications.

**Found an ad for a computer in the paper or online with the specifications you are looking for at a given price? If you are interested in buying it contact me and see if I can beat its price with higher quality parts!
